In Welcoming the Israeli IDF Veterans to the 6th annual Golshim L’Chaim-Ski To Live February 26 – March  5,

Dear Friends,

We are honored once again to host a group of heroes from Israel for Golshim L’Chaim-Ski To Live. These IDF vets look forward to this life changing opportunity to learn to ski and snowboard for a week in Aspen. Through overcoming the challenges of the mountains, they gain confidence, serenity and exhilaration. Participation in this program enables them to feel renewed and invigorated upon their return to Israel, with invaluable memories.

These brave men and women have made enormous sacrifices on behalf of The State of Israel.  So we thank them by offering this experience as a way of uniting Aspen and Israel in a most gratifying way.

Our community has the opportunity to participate with our guests on many levels. Your interaction warms their hearts and makes the soldiers feel appreciated. It will warm your heart and touch your soul.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in this very worthwhile endeavor.

        Sincerely,

Rabbi Mendel Mintz                                                 Robert Leavitt

War
Love is the hallmark of Judaism; some of us even claim that we taught that word to the world. This Shabbat, however, we will stand in our synagogues and listen to a reading from the Torah that tells us to hate.

Revealing Your Mission
I look back now at my journey, and I know that the challenges in the beginning got me to where I am now. I do what I do because I love it, and because I realize that all those treatments—they weren’t for nothing.
Your Questions
Why Is It Called the Fast of Esther?
The rest of the people might have felt they should be fasting, but were not permitted to, since they needed every ounce of strength to defend themselves against Haman’s venomous hordes. Esther, sitting in the palace, was the only one who had nothing to fear, and so was permitted to fast . . .
